The Somali Congress of Trade Unions (SOCOTU) is honored to participate in the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva. As Somalia’s most representative and independent national trade union center through its 13 affiliated unions across all sectors of the economy.
Our presence at this global gathering reaffirms our commitment to the core values of the ILO freedom of association, social justice, decent work, and dialogue. In a time when Somali workers face growing challenges particularly violations of trade union rights, repression, and exclusion from national labor decision-making SOCOTU stands firm in advocating for dignity, democracy, and justice for all workers in Somalia.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our international partners, especially those who have stood with us in solidarity during difficult times. We also express our full support for the ILO’s role in promoting decent work and strengthening the global labor movement.
SOCOTU remains committed to constructive engagement, and we call for increased international attention to the labor rights situation in Somalia.
Together, in unity and solidarity, we reaffirm our pledge to building a fairer world of work—for Somali workers and workers everywhere.
