Somali Congress of Trade Union (SOCOTU) seeks to achieve a just society in which Somali workers’ rights are protected.
MAIN OBJECTIVES

Represent Workers
SOCOTU aimed to be the unified voice of workers in Somalia, advocating for their rights, interests, and welfare in various industries and sectors.

Collective Bargaining
The organization sought to negotiate with employers and the government on behalf of workers to secure better wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Workers' Rights
SOCOTU aimed to protect and promote the fundamental rights of workers, including the right to fair treatment, non-discrimination, and safe working environments.

LEADERS
Every half-decade, delegates to the SOCOTU National Congress elect the Central Committee and the Central Executive Committee, ensuring democratic leadership and accountability within the organization.
SOCOTU is governed by a 23-member Central Executive Committee, elected from its affiliated unions, which provides leadership and oversees the implementation of the policies and decisions of the Congress.
On behalf of its Central Executive Committee and affiliate unions, SOCOTU is committed to advancing decent work, social justice, gender equality, and inclusive development, while representing the collective voice of independent and democratic trade unions across Somalia.
